Welcome to my NEW BLOG!

For many years my projects could be found at my previous blog - www.fatcatcreations.blogspot.com. Since my business has evolved and is now known as Cindi McGee - Behind These Eyes™ instead of Cindi Bisson - Fat Cat Creations - I thought this was the perfect time to launch a new blog. Since I've been on this creative journey for over 16 years - I have a LOT of project links out there in cyberworld! If you are looking for a particular project you have found on Pinterest, Facebook, FaveCrafts, HomeTalk, Twitter, etc. and the link is not working for you, please feel free to email me at cdjb11@yahoo.com and I'll be sure to get you the new link to the instructions. Have a creative day and remember to DARE TO BE DIFFERENT!

WHEW!

Whew! We survived the holidays! Hand made ornaments, baking, scrapbook page calendars and mini album gifts...... busy, crazy, fun! Hope it was joyous and safe for eveyone!

Now it's time to get it into high gear - CHA Anaheim is coming up FAST! I'll be attending and demonstrating at the Makin's Clay booth. I am working with fellow designer and friend, Becky Chabot, on a Designer Fashion Display for CHA. Thanks in advance to all the great sponsors who are helping with this project! Also busy working on projects for CHA for Creative Charms, Terra Bella, and more. Also doing some custom page work and having a creative blast!

Have had some great contacts recently about new opportunities - hoping to announce those soon!

Overall, I've been very blessed in 2007, and am hoping for an equally wonderful 2008. I guess I've decided turning 40 isn't so bad - if it means you can be happy with what you have in life, have a happy, healthy family, and can be fortunate enough to be able to share your creativity with others! Onward to 2008!

Welcome to Autumn

The extreme heat has finally left us here in NC and we have been blessed with some beautiful, cooler, crisp autumn days. Everyone is getting back into the routine of school, sports and work, and I am finally getting back into my creative mode!

I've been busy working on design team submissions as I am always looking for ways to expand my creative horizons and share my love of this artform with others! And nothing kicks my muse into higher gear than a creative challenge! I've been trying lots of new techniques and hopefully will be able to share some of the results with you by mid-November after the team is announced. Wish me luck!

In the meantime, here's a quick back to school layout I did of our son Thomas as he headed off to 1st grade - that mischevious grin says it all!

My addiction to hybrid projects is ever growing - I love the freedom it gives you! ShabbyPrincess.com has a fabulous new, versatile Halloween set called Smell My Feet - it is adorable! I've also been altering everything in site..... wearable items, home decor....you name it - I'm probably altering it!

The staff at My Creative Classroom have been very busy preparing for upcoming classes - I've read some of the course descriptions and you just have to check this site out! There are some truly unique, fun classes being planned! I'll be offering classes on working with Makin's Clay starting in the spring. Some of the teachers will be offering a taste of what is to come with classes this fall.

Until next time.... let your creative muse fly free!

Busy, busy, busy! Back to school for our boys means back to work at the school for me. Been very busy creatively recently also! Just got back from a stamping/scrapping retreat in Georgia where I was supposed to teach this address book project. BUT a BAD case of the flu took care of that! I had to leave the kits with the owner and have her teach the class while I headed for home!

On a happier note, I am very excited to announce I have been chosen to be a faculty member at MyCreativeClassroom.com. I'm working on developing classes to begin in the spring. This new site promises great opportunities for crafters from all venues - they are offering some FREE CLASSES this fall too! Check it out!

I've been creating hybrid art like a madwoman lately - and loving it! I've been fortunate to have some of the projects picked up for publication in coming months - so you'll be seeing more of my work in the magazines :). Here's an altered bulletin board I did with some digital images from Polka Dot Potato courtesy of Creative TECHniuqes magazine! Makin's Clay was used to create the road cones, pushpins have real car keys attached. Tire tracks done with a toy truck and brown paint. Daisy Hill rubber "track" and "road" embellishments, Karen Foster metal "camper" sign and license place. This is four our boys bedroom.

More peaks from CHA

As promised, I am sharing a few more of my favorites from CHA.
Cream City Ribbon - it's yummy! Beautiful ribbons - self adhesive - printable - just amazing.

It's 100% natural, biodegradable, available pre-printed or in custom prints. Check out the website for more info: http://www.creamcityribbon.com/

Another booth that caught my eye was My Little Shoebox. It was a smaller booth - but it made up for it in the beauty - it was just lovely and they have a great selection of products! Above is a photo of the booth itself, and a close up of some of their product. To see more of what they have to offer - visit www.mylittleshoebox.com

I have more to share.... stay tuned!

More from CHA

I've been going through the zillion photos I took at CHA and have a few more to share -

This is the Oktoberfest Beerfest Buffet table that I did with Becky Chabot for the Designer Tablescape Challenge. It was medieval themed - castle centerpiece, hand beaded fireworks, handmade bowls, "hammered metal" stamped beer steins made with Makins Clay which laced up like beer maiden dresses, our own brands of custom beers...... ALL of the tablescapes were amazing in their own way. A truly amazing amount of work went into each and every one. Bravo to all the Designers who took this opportunity to show their stuff!

Ana Araujo & When Creativity Knocks - New Craft TV Web Program!

Ana Araujo! How could I forget to mention Ana Araujo! Ana was at CHA promoting her exciting new WebTV program - When Creativity Knocks! It sounds like it will be a great success - Ana has lots of exciting ideas for the show and so far response from the public has been great. I was fortunate enough to have dinner with Ana along with a group of fellow designers. Ana is a true joy to talk with - I love the fact that although she is a crafting "STAR" - she is still "human" and has time to talk to up and coming designers! We love you Ana!

CHA!

What an amazing show! Summer CHA was very exciting - lots of fantastic new products on the way for the crafting community. It was nice to see some new companies with fresh and original designs and products. Over the next several days I'll be sharing images of some of my favorites.

CONGRATULATIONS to GlueArts for their CHA award for the new Glue Glider! It's an amazing new adhesive gun with lots of options - use a single piece or a whole strip - glides on like a dream.

SPAARK Limited has an amazing new line of "alterable" leather albums in a variety of sizes and colors - they are "soft" & flexible, and very alterable - they can be punched with a cropodile, stamped, inked, burnished with a burning tool...... I was honored to be asked to serve on their design team and look forward to creating unique cover art for their fantastic albums!
The Robin's Nest (http://www.robinsnest-scrap.com/) was one of the new companies I was very excited to find - they have an amazing line of papers, many with touches of "bling/glitter," etc (even the "masculine papers" like the fire pattern above has GLITTER!), and coordinating products with lost of unique texture! The image above is a sneak peak - I'll be sharing lots more about their products in my next post.
Thanks to Makin's Clay for a great experience also - I demonstrated in their booth and they displayed 14 projects at their booth which I had created with their products. It was an honor to be part of the Makin's Team at CHA!

Just a sneak peak at some of the projects I've been working on with the Makins Clay generously provided for Designers to work with! I'll be bringing these, along with several other projects, with me to present at CHA.

CHA here I come!

Just 4 days to CHA! Been crazy busy with prep-work, design work, etc. but it's all worth it. Looking forward to making some great contacts, seeing old friends, and meeting new friends!

Can't wait to see all the new products the manufacturers will be releasing. Eye candy, for sure.

I'll share some of my favorites when I get back next week!

Toot!, Improvements, etc.

First, TOOTs for me ;0) I made the ScrapGalaxy DT for another term! I am VERY happy about that for sure! I really think that site is going places and has a very bright future! I'm honored to be a part of it.

AND, I also made the final round of the Frances Meyer DT search. I was one of the lucky 20! I am awaiting my box of product and then I need to pump my creative muse full of chocolate and Diet Coke and get busy! Only have until 6/14 to submit so I have to really be creative in a short time frame. I love a challenge though!

Finally took some time to get my blog "improved" a bit cosmetically. I'm still learning the whole "digital" thing, and learning about blogging - but I am confident I can get this right if I keep on trying!

I'm getting ready for CHA - Tablescape display, Designer Showcase booth, resumes, etc. Busy busy busy - but fun!

I'm Back!!!!

PHEW!! Vacationing is exhausting. Just spent a week in Aruba with my entire family for my cousin's wedding. It was breathtaking. Perfect weather, plentiful food, frozen beverages, sand, sun, beautiful flowers and trees..... and an iguana bite for my 6 year old that ended up infected and gave us a lovely tour of the emergency room and hand surgeon on the island. Fun stuff all around. Luckily, he's healing fine now.

Getting busy again on my Design Team projects, NSA calls, etc. Hoping to get my creative muse in high gear again very soon!

Paper, Paper & More Paper!

Okay, I admit it. I'm a supplyaholic. I have to have TONS of paper, embellishments, paints, ribbons & twills, fibers, stamps, inkpads..... you name it, I have to have it for my artwork!

I've recently discovered Rouge de Garance papers and I am in love. They are absolutely gorgeous. Vibrant colors, excellent quality papers. So inspiring to work with!

I've also been having fun creating sports layouts with Scrappin Sports & More's newest line. There are some really fun papers here to make scrapping your sports memories super easy!

And let's not forget Cosmo Cricket, Zsiage, BasicGrey, Daisy D's, K&Company, Essentials by Kate, DCWV....So much fabulous paper....so little scrappin' time! ;0)

Here I come to the world of bloggers!

Since sleep is over-rated, I've decided to try and join the blogging world. I guess what that means is sometimes I'll be posting a lot, sometimes I'll be AWOL, but I'll try to keep this as up to date as possible!

Things are crazy here now - preparing for a trip to Aruba on Easter vacation, working at the school, both boys in soccer, and trying to meet multiple deadlines for DT requirements before we leave for Aruba. Basically, every day life here in Fat Cat land.
