2019 Polymer Clay Adventure Online Art Retreat

SIGN UP NOW & DON'T MISS A MINUTE OF THE FUN!

"ALL of the classes open up on January 5, 2019 for you to learn on demand and take classes in the order which inspires you.  In addition, each month we will have a focus on one or two classes and one art/technique challenge.  We are scheduling the classes based on how they flow one after the other and complexity of technique.

Join Ilysa, Kira, and your teachers in our private Facebook group for the GUIDED TOUR through the techniques, share your photos, enter to win cool prizes (just for showing your progress pics) and get inspiration and invitations to stay engaged, keep creating, and get support from everyone on the journey.

You asked, we listened.  We want everyone to enjoy PCA their way!

What’s NEW in 2019?

We want you to be successful, supported, and to finish as many projects as you want to!  That's the way we learn the best - by trying new things!

We are going to have pop-up classes throughout the year - some will happen live and be recorded, some will be uploaded when there’s something we’d like to share, some will be special guest surprise events!

We are planning a swap every other month, as well as monthly art challenges based on the class projects to keep you active and trying new things!

It’s our 5th Anniversary - and we’re giving YOU the gifts!

This year we will have a private Facebook group.  This was one of our most popular things we did in PCA in the past, so we’re bringing it back.  You can share all you want in a safe, private environment where your new PCA friends are along for the creative journey and you don’t need to worry about anyone else seeing your practice or your questions :).

And don’t worry - if you’re not on Facebook, each class has it’s own discussion area where you can upload photos and get your questions answered.

All announcements and information that you need to be able to follow along will always be posted inside the PCA class environment.

We are also bringing PCA 2019 into our main website - CreateAlong.com.  You will NOT have to login to multiple websites to get your classes and resources - it will all be under your one login for the site.   We are over-the-moon excited to be able to do this, finally!"

Always Be Thankful Etched Slate Sign

Materials:

etchall® Creme
etchall® Stencil ComboPak
etchall® Pick Tool
etchall® Squeegee
Slate sign
Electronic die cutting machine, or die cuts, or stencils
CreateAlong.com Hot Fix Cabochons in autumn colors
Beacon 3-in-1™ Adhesive

Instructions:

Determine appropriate size, and create text & image you wish to etch.  I created mine using picmonkey.com.   Use electronic die cutting machine to cut images from etchmask®.

Use pick tool to remove lettering and wreaths - I used the negative space as a stencil.

Place transfer paper from Stencil ComboPak over the images.  Press to adhere all the pieces to the transfer paper.  Using transfer paper ensures you get each tiny little element of the design.

Remove the backing from the etchmask®. Place the image onto the clean, dry slate and press to adhere

Apply a thick coat of etchall® Creme.  Let set 15 minutes.

etchall® is re-usable! Return cream to the bottle for later use.

Wash slate and remove etchmask®.  Let dry.

Add cabochons to enhance the twig wreath.  These are actually hot fix cabochons, but I added a tiny touch of 3-in-1 adhesive to the back to ensure they bonded correctly with the slate.

Bittersweet Combs - The Polymer Arts Magazine

I am honored to share that I have an article in the final issue of The Polymer Arts magazine.   It had long been a goal of mine to be published in this well respected magazine, and I am thrilled that I have gotten to be a part of it not once, but twice, most recently in this final issue.

My article is part of their The Polymer Jeweler's Workbench series - the topic is Jewelry for Hair.  I share a variety of amazing options from artists around the world, as well as 3 of my own pieces.  The tutorial for the bittersweet combs is also a part of the article.

Get your copy of this final issue here.

Back to Nature Autumn Necklace

In the October issue of Polymer Clay Universe magazine, I've got a tutorial for this Back to Nature Autumn Necklace.   The elements were cast from a real twig, acorn, and leaf using Amazing Mold Putty, and the vintage metallic effect was achieved with Swellegant products (my first time using these - they should come with a warning about how addicting they can be!).  How did I get the hole in the curved twig?  EASY!  The Makin's Professional® Ultimate Clay Extruder® and ClayCore Adapters!  Find out exactly how I did it in this issue.   The amazing October issue is packed with amazing tutorials from other artists too!  Find it HERE
