Welcome to my NEW BLOG!

For many years my projects could be found at my previous blog - www.fatcatcreations.blogspot.com. Since my business has evolved and is now known as Cindi McGee - Behind These Eyes™ instead of Cindi Bisson - Fat Cat Creations - I thought this was the perfect time to launch a new blog. Since I've been on this creative journey for over 16 years - I have a LOT of project links out there in cyberworld! If you are looking for a particular project you have found on Pinterest, Facebook, FaveCrafts, HomeTalk, Twitter, etc. and the link is not working for you, please feel free to email me at cdjb11@yahoo.com and I'll be sure to get you the new link to the instructions. Have a creative day and remember to DARE TO BE DIFFERENT!

More from CHA

Thought I'd share a few more photos and products that caught my eye at CHA!

Judy's Stone House Designs - I honestly think this is one of my favorite booths from Summer CHA! It was so cleverly decorated, it was eye catching (especially with having 2 young boys at home who LOVE Indiana Jones!). Judy's Stone House Designs features wooden items for embellishing - TONS of variety here - wooden tags, birdhouses in tons of sizes, miniatures, fun shapes like lizards and palm trees, antiqued metal finials to fit on birdhouses, I absolutely cannot wait to work with some of her products! (Photos above)

Paper, paper and MORE paper - I have never seen so many paper companies before! Unbelievable selection out there for scrappers and paper artists. What truly caught my eye were the companies that dared to offer something DIFFERENT than most of the larger manufacturers (not that I don't love those lines too, but I LOVE unique products!). Two that especially caught my eye were Kodomo - beautiful Asian inspired papers, stamps and more, and as reported after winter CHA - JennAnn - they continue to offer a fun variety of hand painted paper patterns, colorful, unique, individual, and inspiring!

Magic Mesh has a great new product that makes scrapping even easier! It's a Magic Mesh mat, with a separate piece with a special layer that you place over the top of a layout in progress, the items stick to the top sheet, and you can remove them to add adhesive, etc. then simply lay the cover over the top again and lift off the top piece. No more having to remove all your elements and re-arrange them. They also have some fabulous new weaves! Love the linen texture!

Ranger Class - Becky Chabot and I took the Ranger class with Tim Holtz (thanks to Becky for getting me a seat when she bought her ticket!). It was great! Very generous amount of products to take home, great techniques to be used in a variety of ways. The class was all abA fun class definitely worth attending!

I have even more to share.... stay tuned!

Summer CHA - Meeting Mark Montano!

I'm back from another whirlwind trip to Chicago for Summer CHA. As always, it was an incredible experience - inspiring products, new friends, great food, and one of the most breathtaking gardens I've ever seen right outside the Rosemont Convention Center! I've got so much to share that there will be several postings highlighting CHA! My filming on behalf of Preserve It Frames with Ana & Megan Araujo for When Creativity Knocks went well - I'll have photos to share soon and will let you know when the episode is live! I also met Mark Montano! He was hosting craft challenges twice daily throughout CHA, and one of my projects featuring Preserve It Frames was highlighted in the showcase of prizes! His "Big-Ass Book of Crafts" is amazing - and yes, it is one BIG ASS BOOK! ;0) The Designer Display rooms were all fantastic - it amazes me how so many different designers can somehow bring the same vision together so well!

Expo International! Expo always amazes me with their fabulous assortments of trims and embellishments. Bright colors, vintage colors, they have it. One of my new favorites is their absolutely adorable button fringe trim!

Powertex! I think I'm in creative LOVE. This new products is amazing - it can be applied to any surface to add texture, color, shimmer and more - and creates a waterproof surface! I'll be talking lots more about Powertex in the coming months, and sharing product ideas. What makes it even better for me is that it works fabulously with Makin's Clay which everyone knows I'm totally addicted to!

May Arts! I saw lots of fabulous booths with beautiful and creative ribbons, but I have to say May Arts continues to take the lead in my opinion - They have an absolutely amazing assortment of ribbons and are always coming up with something new. A fun "spiderweb" type ribbon caught my eye, and I just loved these suede leaves, and the straight suede ribbon now comes with suede on both sides! It's fabulous!

Scor-Pal is an amazing tool for cardmakers and paper artists!
This tool makes it super simple to score perfect lines every time - great for gate folds or other fun folds. It has a measuring template on the self-healing mat, and the mat flips for a non-stick surface. Very clever and useful product!

I've got lots more to share..... later today or tomorrow I'll be back with more photos and more info about Summer CHA!

Scrappers Dream Vacation!

What an AMAZING event! Scrappers - this is definitely THE event to try to attend! Fun, food, products, and FRIENDS! I met many wonderful scrappers during my time at the Durham, NC SDV. I taught a class and did several make & take projects on behalf of Creative Charms, and
taught a class on behalf of Preserve It Frames. I made 4 new creative friends from nearby in NC (that's 3 of them in the photo above in my Preserve It Frames class! I also had the benefit of being located right across from Scrapbook Girl! They have the most ADORABLE clothing line for scrapping fanatics - pjs, sweatshirts, t-shirts and more - some with BLING! Gotta love designer scrapperwear! ;0)

Here's a peek at the 6 different Make & Take projects I offered during the event. Everyone who participated was excited to see the unique, fun products offered by Creative Charms!

Scrappers Dream Vacation, CHA and more...

School has finally ended and I'm back in creative gear full swing - I will be teaching Friday and Saturday, June 27th & 28th at Scrappers Dream Vacation in Durham, NC. I have two classes, one for Creative Charms and one for PreserveIt Frames.... photos of the projects are shown. I'll also be offering 6 different make & takes featuring Creative Charms unique embellishments!

I'm also in a creative frenzy preparing for CHA in Chicago in July. I'm participating in all four "rooms" of the Designer Challenge this time, so I have many different projects to work on! I'll also be demonstrating daily at the Makin's Clay booth and the PreserveIt Frames booth. Stop by and say hello!

Because of the vast amount of creative time I'm needing to put into these two events, I'm taking a temporary hiatus from teaching at My Creative Classroom...... but I'll be back in a few months, with my Makin's Clay classes and more!

Winter CHA! Meeting Carol Duvall, Suze Weinberg & Jane Seymore!!

This is a very long post..... so much to share! What an amazing week! CHA was fabulous - so many inspiring new products, so many new friends, time with my friend and fellow designer Becky Chabot, and I'm officially now a designer appearing on Ana & Megan Araujo's When Creativity Knocks Web TV program! BIG thanks to Becky for taking this fabulous photo before I told her to "GO AWAY" because she made me nervous (hehehe!). I made a coin purse from Makin's Clay. Stay tuned to find out when this episode will air....

CONGRATS to Becky for winning both her categories, and best of show in the Terra Bella Finishes challenge! Her projects were amazing, and I knew the minute I saw them she was a guaranteed winner! I was fortunate to have one of my entries chosen for publication in an upcoming issue of Creative TECHniques magazine, so I feel like a winner too! If you have yet to try Terra Bella Finishes products, - DO - they are high quality and a must have on my list.

The "Cat Crazy" Designer Fashion Display I worked with Becky on was a huge success also. It truly looked amazing - like a store window display in an upscale store. We were very proud!

Products, products, and more products! So many inspiring things for creative artists! Stamps are still going strong, especially clear stamps. I really liked the fun, funky choices offered by ScrappyCat.

It was great to see some new creative embellishments - fun flowers with bling, crochet, and in black & white from Creative Charms, beautiful detailed pewter stickers from Atelier de Paris, and absolutely scrumptious trims and embellishments from Expo International. One of my favorite finds was the line of metallic brush markers offered by Pentel - I absolutely LOVE these markers! When I discovered they work on Makin's Clay, my creative muse went into overdrive. I got a chance to experiment with them, and many other great Pentel projects, at a designer reception they sponsored, and created this fun little box - the flower started off white - I love the way the colors bled into each other and created a unique embellishment!

Fabulous papers - Floral papers like the great choices offered by BasicGrey are still dominating the scrapbooking world, but there are some companies venturing off into fabulous new paper patterns. I saw many papers featuring great texture and depth (velvet, glitters, sparkle & bling! - one of my favorites was Fiskars new paper line - the butterfly pape, green & orange papers, and funky "tattoo style" papers, stickers and stamps below are from their lines), The Robin's Nest again featured fabulous papers with that added something to make them special! Many "photo-style" papers with realistic hand painted scenery were offered - some of the nicest were from SugarFree. Creative papers like those offered by new companies Jennann and Dezignz by Dezda which are hand painted (I love hand-painting, since that's how I design my papers!), collage papers from Scrapz and Collage Pauge are fabulously creative and inspiring. I am truly a "texture" gal - and the papers offered by Amate Studios just jumped out of the booth and yelled "TOUCH ME!" Amate also has a versatile line of metal jewelry findings and bracelet blanks that I just can't wait to experiment with using Makin's Clay. Great detailed chipboard and papers were creatively displayed at a new booth by Raspberry, and I saw colorful, inventive creative buttons at the Dill Buttons booth. Dill's big colorful buttons that nest together, buttons that you can fill with photos, flowers, or anything you could imagine, and even buttons designed to have a design hand stitched onto them!

It was also great to see a trend toward offering craft kit projects for BOYS. As the mom of 2 boys who love to create, this was a truly great find. Pirates and castles gallore, sure to make any creative boy happy!

Celebrities! I was truly honored to get to meet and spend time with so many creative artists and celebrities. My roommates were polymer clay artists Sue Kelsey and Cathy Johnston - their artwork was amazing, and their personalities even more amazing. I am so honored to have spent time with them and now consider them my friends. I demonstrated at the Makin's Clay booth with both of them. I also spent time at the Makin's Clay booth with Linda Hess and Ann Butler - both of who are very talented artists and lovely people to get to know! One of the most exciting moments for me was when I got to meet and talk briefly with Carol Duvall - Queen of the Crafting World! Carol is humerous, warm, and just a wonderful woman. I also got photo ops with Suze Weinberg - Queen of UTEE, Donna Kato - Queen of Polymer Clay (in my PJ's - Thanks Cathy & Sue!) and Jane Seymore! Unfortunately, my photo with Jane is a bit fuzzy, by my memory of meeting her and talking with her about Makin's Clay will never blur! Becky and I also spent the evening with Ana & Megan Araujo and their film crew at the Go Hollywood event at Disney! It was a terrificly fun time full of laughter and memories - Thank you for letting us share it with you all!!! Here are a few of my photo ops - I'll have more to share soon!
