The Face of Cupid Heart Pendant
This rubber stamp seemed to be calling out to be made into a piece of wearable art. By impressing it into Makin’s Clay® and adding some Clearsnap® metallic foiling, it is transformed into a totally unique pendant to accent your outfit not just for Valentine’s Day, but any day of the year. Make your clay a little thicker and make a hole instead of adding a bail, and it would make a great keychain too!
It's the first Monday of the month, which means it's Designer Craft Connection Blog Hop time! So be sure to check out the Linky Party on the DCC Blog to see what the other creative designers are sharing this month!
Materials:
Makin’s Clay® - Red (approximately 30g)
Makin’s® Cutting Mat
Makin’s® Clay Roller
Makin’s® Clay Cutters - Hearts
Heart with face rubber stamp
Beacon® Tacky Glue
Clearsnap® Designer Foil - Gold
JudiKins™ Diamond Glaze™
Paper towel
Instructions:
Place a small amount of Tacky Glue onto a paper towel. Use fingertip to gently dab glue directly onto raised areas of rubber stamp.
Stamp into clay, impressing image.
Use largest heart cutter from 3 piece set to cut out face and partial decorative detail from glue stamped image.
From leftover clay, cut a strip about 1” x 1/4”. Fold in half, press ends to top back of heart to make a bail to hang your heart. Use fingertip to apply small touches of glue to bail. Place any unused clay in zipper bag with damp paper towel or moist towelette to maintain freshness for later use.
When your glue is starting to dry a bit, but is still tacky (about 1-2 minutes), place gold Designer Foil over clay and press gently to adhere foil to tacky glued areas of stamped area and bail. Let set a few minutes, then lift to remove foil. If desired, you can add additional touches of glue and repeat to add more foiling.
Repeat above step by dabbing touches of Tacky Glue on back of pendant, and applying tacky glue to outer edge. Let dry slightly until tacky, then add foil. Let dry 24 hours.
Apply a layer of Diamond Glaze™ over surface of heart, front and back, and on bail. Let dry. Add a second, thicker layer, over first on front of heart. Let dry.
Add decorative ribbon, chain, etc.
