Irregular Ruffled Disc Polymer Clay Pendant

I love to create unique jewelry pieces to match my clothes.  The colors and overall design of this pendant was made to match a skirt with the same colors and a bit of an irregular circle pattern.   

Materials: 

Polymer clay - light brown, almond, olive, teal (various brands)

Makin’s Professional® Ultimate Clay Machine®

Clay roller

Clay blade

Decorative bronze brad 

JudiKins Clay Squishers™ 

JudiKins Diamond Glaze™

Sculpey® Bake & Bond 

CreateAlong.com graduated circle cutters 

Brown suede cording

Closure 

Fine sand paper 

Instructions:

Roll almond and teal clay to about 1/8” thickness - I rolled to setting #4 on the clay machine.  Stack teal clay over almond.  Use Clay Squisher to add desired texture. 

Repeat with light brown and almond clay, using a different texture.

Repeat with olive and almond clay, using a third texture.  

Choose 3 graduated sizes of circle clay cutters.    Use largest selected circle to cut out brown texture clay circle.  Then use next size to cut the teal, and the smallest to cut the olive. 

Carefully tear away the edges from each circle. 

Make a small hole in the center of each.  

Carefully use yoru fingers to make “irregular ruffled” edges of each disc and form into a cup shape.  

I placed each cupped circle onto a clay cutter and then baked according to manufacturer instructions.   Let cool. 

Coat the surface of each piece with Diamond Glaze.  Let dry. 

Lightly sand the surface of each piece to remove some of the glaze and add variation to the color of the surface. 

Roll a small piece of almond clay and cut into a rectangle, then form a tube and mount to the back of the pendant using Sculpey Bake & Bond.  

Roll a small ball of almond clay and flatten over the ends of  the brads to cover them on the back of the pendant.

Bake pendant again to cure clay.  Let cool 

Add suede cording and closure.
