Our grandaughter, Ava Rae, arrived on November 16th - just in time for her first Christmas! Her mom asked if I had a glass ornament that she could use to put their hospital bracelets inside. I told her sure, but I had to jazz it up a bit..... I used
etchall® creme to etch "Ava Rae McGee November 16, 2018" on the front, and "First Christmas" on the back. Then I created a poinsettia with white
Makin's Clay® tinted to a pink shade with acrylic paint, and green clay tinted with a mossy green paint. I used the Makin's® Christmas Nature push mold to make individual portions of petals - the molded images themselves were too large for what I needed, but by making small petals I could trim them down to size and reassemble them to create the perfect sized poinsettia. The flower received a light dusting of shimmering mica powders in coordinating shades. After etching, Antique Gold Rub N Buff was used to highlight the etched lettering, and gold DecoArt® Metallic Lustre™ was used to highlight the details of the poinsettia. A shimmering, shear pink ribbon was the finishing touch. When we see them tomorrow, they will add their hospital bracelets!
