Welcome to my NEW BLOG!

For many years my projects could be found at my previous blog - www.fatcatcreations.blogspot.com. Since my business has evolved and is now known as Cindi McGee - Behind These Eyes™ instead of Cindi Bisson - Fat Cat Creations - I thought this was the perfect time to launch a new blog. Since I've been on this creative journey for over 16 years - I have a LOT of project links out there in cyberworld! If you are looking for a particular project you have found on Pinterest, Facebook, FaveCrafts, HomeTalk, Twitter, etc. and the link is not working for you, please feel free to email me at cdjb11@yahoo.com and I'll be sure to get you the new link to the instructions. Have a creative day and remember to DARE TO BE DIFFERENT!

  • Beacon Fabri-Tac Permanent Adhesive, 4-Ounce
  • Beacon Gem-Tac Permanent Adhesive, 4-Ounce
  • Brown 1/2” gross grain ribbon

  • Westcott Titanium Bonded Non Stick Scissors, 8″ Straight
  • Westcott Hobby Knife with 5 Assorted Titanium Blades
  • Paper cups or plastic bowls, spoon, craft gloves, microwave, paper towels
Instructions:
1) Wearing craft gloves, in paper cup, mix 1 tbsp. Cocoa Brown Rit Dye and 1/3 cup water. Add assortment of white buttons. Cover with paper towel, place in microwave and heat for approximately 1 1/2 minutes. Remove from microwave, use spoon to remove buttons. If buttons are not dark enough, let soak until desired color is reached.
2) In separate paper cup, mix 1/2 tbsp. Dark Brown Rit Dye and 1/4 cup water. Add assortment of white buttons.  Cover with paper towel, place in microwave and heat for approximately 1 1/2 minutes. Remove from microwave, use spoon to remove buttons.  If buttons are not dark enough, let soak until desired color is reached.
3) Cut Smoothfoam™ sheet to approximately 7” x 7” with craft knife.
4) Cut piece of burlap approximately 7 1/2” x 7 1/2”, mount to top of foam square.  Let dry.  Remove strings from burlap and trim to approximately 1/8” – 1/4” around edge of square.

5) Arrange buttons on burlap to form acorn shape, using darker buttons for cap on acorn.  Mount with Gem Tac glue.

6) Use Fabri-Tac to mount 1/2” brown ribbon around outside edge of foam square beneath extended burlap edge. Mount strips of brown ribbon around inside edge of top, allowing  burlap ‘fringe’ to extend beyond as shown.
7) Add ribbon loop to center of top of back of foam to hang.
