Welcome to my NEW BLOG!

For many years my projects could be found at my previous blog - www.fatcatcreations.blogspot.com. Since my business has evolved and is now known as Cindi McGee - Behind These Eyes™ instead of Cindi Bisson - Fat Cat Creations - I thought this was the perfect time to launch a new blog. Since I've been on this creative journey for over 16 years - I have a LOT of project links out there in cyberworld! If you are looking for a particular project you have found on Pinterest, Facebook, FaveCrafts, HomeTalk, Twitter, etc. and the link is not working for you, please feel free to email me at cdjb11@yahoo.com and I'll be sure to get you the new link to the instructions. Have a creative day and remember to DARE TO BE DIFFERENT!

"Fish Bones" Masculine Card - Gel Press™ Blog Hop

Materials:

Gel Press™ Plate - 6 x 6”
DecoArt® Americana® Multi-Surface Satin™ - Woodland Green, Dolphin, Night Sky, Cocoa Bean
JudiKins™ KITE Stencil - High Anxiety
JudiKins™ Fish Bones rubber stamp
Beacon® Zip Dry™ Adhesive
Clearsnap® ColorBox® Crafter’s™ Ink - Deep Woods by Ann Butler
Dimensional foam dots
White paper
Dark blue, dark green, grey card stock
Rubber brayer, paper trimmer, scissors
Instructions:

I began my mono-printing for this project on a piece of pre-printed paper - created with two shades of light blue and white paint from an earlier project.  You could use plain white paper, or first prepare a paper this color before proceeding to the next steps.

Place drops of all 4 shades of Multi-Surface Satin™ paints onto 6 x 6” Gel Press™ plate.

Brayer lightly to blend colors.

Use un-inked Fish Bones stamp to stamp into paint on plate, cleaning between impressions by stamping on to a piece of white paper (save at least one "clean" stamped image for your focal image).

Place High Anxiety stencil over plate.

Place pre-printed light blue (or white) paper over plate and press evenly to transfer design to paper.  Pull print and let dry.

Lift stencil and pull second print on plain paper for later use.

Ink Fish Bones stamp with Deep Woods ink.  Stamp over printed paper randomly, re-inking between stamping.

Trim to desired size.

Use Zip Dry™ to mount onto dark blue card stock and trim to create mat about 1/8” larger on all sides than background paper.

Cut card from grey card stock.  Mount patterned paper with mat centered on card front.

Use scissors to trim around one of the stamped Fish Bones images.  Cut dark green card stock mat to fit beneath fish.  Use dimensional foam dots to mount fish to green mat.  Use Zip Dry to mount centered on card front over patterned paper.

Clearsnap® & EyeConnect Crafts - Dimensional Shimmering Peacock Totem Card

Today  I am sharing a project made from some my favorite Clearsnap® products kinetic chipboard elements from EyeConnect Crafts. I also created a custom colored background with DecoArt® paints and a Gel Press™ plate.

Materials:

Clearsnap® ColorBox® Crafter’s Ink - Jungle Green, Wave
Clearsnap® ColorBox® Stylus & Tips
Clearsnap® Smooch® Accent Inks - Gold Lame, Juniper
Clearsnap® Smooch® Illuminate
Clearsnap® Designer Foils - Seaport, Lagoon, Goldmine
EyeConnect Crafts - Totem Poppet - Totem Peacock
DecoArt® Americana® Multi-Surface Satin™ - Deep Turquoise, Gold, Woodland Green
DecoArt® Americana® Acrylic - Ultramarine
Gel Press™ 5x7” plate
Double sided adhesive tape, foam tape
Brayer, scissors, paper trimmer
White paper
Green card stock
Heat tool

Instructions:

Use ColorBox® Stylus to apply Jungle green ColorBox® Crafter’s ink to tail feathers of Peacock.  Use Stylus to apply Wave blue ColorBox® Crafter’s ink to body and head.  Heat set to dry.

Apply Smooch® Illuminate to body and head, and to uninked feet.   Apply Juniper Smooch® to feathers.  Let dry.

Apply Gold Smooch® accents to feathers and head as shown.  Let dry.

Using double sided tape, cut out oval shapes for “eye” of feathers.  Cut off small slice at bottom.  Apply to feathers over gold area.  Peel off top and apply Seaport Blue Designer Foils. Remove bottom covering and apply Lagoon Blue Designer Foils.

Construct the peacock following the instructions in the packaging.   I added a touch of Juniper Smooch® to the brads on his tail.
Here's how I created the background paper for the peacock:

Add drops of DecoArt® Americana® Multi-Surface Satin™ - Deep Turquoise, Gold, Woodland Green and DecoArt® Americana® Acrylic - Ultramarine to 5x7” Gel Press™ plate.  Brayer lightly to blend colors.   Place white paper over plate, press lightly, pull print and set aside to dry.

Place double sided tape over ends of gel printed paper.  Place Goldmine foil over tape and transfer foil to taped edges.  Mount to green card.

Mount the peacock to the front of the gel printed paper using foam dots for added dimension.

Ink edges of card with Wave blue Crafter's Ink.

Smoothfoam™ Denim & Burlap Tattered Fabric American Flag Wreath

Smoothfoam’s new RULED wreaths make creating projects like this one easier than ever - the space for each color is already perfectly measured!   Be sure to check out the Designer Crafts Connection blog to see what the other participating designers have made with these great pre-measured, ruled wreaths!   There are some really neat ideas!

Materials:

Smoothfoam™ Ruled Wreath
Smoothfoam™ Stars
Denim -(I repurposed an old pair of jeans!)
Red burlap - burlapfabric.com
White cotton  fabric
Hot glue gun
DecoArt® Americana® Multi-Purpose Satin paint - Cotton Ball, True Blue
DecoArt® Americana® Weathered Wood™ Crackle Finish
Paintbrush, scissors

Instructions:

I tore my denim as I wanted rough edges, but you could also just cut strips.   Make one strip about 2” x 10”, and several strips about 1/2” wide.  Tie all the small strips into knotted sections, so that about 2” on each side of knot remains.   Cut each knot apart, leaving 1” on the side of each knot.

Wrap the 2” strip around the wreath, filling in 2 of the pre-measured sections, and glue in place.   Glue the knotted pieces of denim over the wrapped area until all the space is filled.

Repeat with white cotton fabric - tear four 2” x 6” strips.  Tear several small 1/2” strips, knot and cut apart as with denim strips.   Beginning with second pre-measured section from the denim, wrap white cotton fabric around the wreath and glue in place.  Skip one section, and mount next strip.  Skip another section, and mount third, skip another and then mount 4th piece of white fabric.  Glue small knotted sections over white fabric to cover all area.

For the red burlap, use scissors to cut 2” x 6” strips.  Cut several small 1/2” strips, knot, and cut apart as with blue and white strips.   Beginning with first pre-measured section from the denim, wrap red burlap fabric around the wreath and glue in place.  Continue wrapping and mounting red burlap around open pre-measured sections of wreath.  Glue small knotted sections over red burlap to cover all area.

Use end of paintbrush to smooth raised area on three Smoothfoam™ stars.  Paint with one coat of True Blue DecoArt® Multi-Surface Satin™ paint.  Let dry.

Apply coat of Weathered Wood™ crackle to each star.   Let dry and apply coat of Cotton Ball DecoArt® Multi-Surface Satin™ paint.  Let dry.   Crackle will begin almost immediately.

Glue stars over denim area on wreath.
