Welcome to my NEW BLOG!

Welcome to my NEW blog! For many years my projects could be found at my previous blog - www.fatcatcreations.blogspot.com. Since my business has evolved and is now known as Cindi McGee - Behind These Eyes™ instead of Cindi Bisson - Fat Cat Creations - I thought this was the perfect time to launch a new blog. Since I've been on this creative journey for almost 16 years - I have a LOT of project links out there in cyberworld! If you are looking for a particular project you have found on Pinterest, Facebook, FaveCrafts, HomeTalk, Twitter, etc. and the link is not working for you, please feel free to email me at cdjb11@yahoo.com and I'll be sure to get you the new link to the instructions. Have a creative day and remember to DARE TO BE DIFFERENT!

Creatively Crafty with Cindi McGee - Gel Printed Etched Glass Votive

In this episode of my Creatively Crafty series I'm sharing another unique way to use your Gel Press™  plate, DecoArt® Gloss Enamels® glass paint, and JudiKins™ KITE Stencils to print onto a glass votive etched with etchall® Creme.

Gel Press™ Funky Spring Flower Pillow - Gel Press™ Blog Hop Time!

Thank you for joining our first Gel Press™ Blog Hop!  We will have a challenge every month!  This gives you the opportunity to play along AND win a Gel Press™ for yourself!  This month you can win an 8" Round Gel Press™ Plate!!

Enter by going to all of the blogs listed here.   Leave a comment on the Gel Press™ Blog telling us your favorite project!  You can comment bewteen now and April 7!  Winner to be announced on Gel Press Junkies on FB and Gel Press™ product page April 8th!  You will have your 8" Round Gel Press™ to make a project to play along with our Earth Day designs April 22! Enjoy the projects and good luck!
I am having such fun learning about the many creative options you have when crafting with Gel Press™ Plates!  Having the available in so many sizes, like this 8” round, also makes projects simpler!  The round shape of this plate just seemed perfect for the center of a fun flower - so the Funky Spring Flower Pillow was born!

Materials:

DecoArt® Americana® Multi-Surface Satin™ acrylic paint -  Pink Tropics, Shrimp, Chick
Brayer
White cotton fabric
JudiKins™ Funky Flowers Cube Stamp
JudiKins™ KITE Stencil - Beaded Curtain
Beacon™ 3-in-1 Adhesive
Offray® Ribbons - polka dots, stripes, solids in coordinating yellow, pink and coral tones
Scissors

Instructions:

Cut white cotton fabric into two squares about 10”.  (Tip - I use bed sheets for a LOT of my projects requiring white fabric!  It’s an inexpensive option for crafting fabric!)

Apply small drops of each color of paint to 8” round Gel Press™ plate.

Use brayer to spread paint without totally blending colors.

Randomly stamp surface with 4 different flowers from Funky Flowers cube stamp - cleaning stamp between each application - to lift paint from Gel Press™ plate.

Place Beaded Curtain KITE Stencil over plate.

Place square of white fabric over plate and gently press with hands to transfer to fabric.  I love the look of the square stencil against the round printed image.

Repeat to make second print.  Trim off corners about 1/2-1" around printed images.

To make your flower petals, cut strips of coordinating ribbons about 5" long.  Fold each in half, use 3-in-1 Adhesive to mount, with loop facing inward, on front of one print, with glue line aligned with edge of printed image.

Continuing adding ribbon loops/petals until you have about 3” of area without ribbon.

Place a line of 3-in-1 Adhesive around outside edge of image on 2nd printed fabric  leaving about 3” of area without glue — align area without glue with area without ribbon and place face down over first piece with ribbon loops/petals.

Let glue dry.  Carefully turn pillow inside out.

Stuff with fiber fill.  Carefully glue open area, adding ribbon loops/petals to seal pillow.

So many options... so little time!

Just BEEcause Card with Gel Press™

Materials:

Gel Press™ Petites - 3” Hexagon
Tan, light brown and dark amber acrylic paint
Brayer
Paper
Bubble wrap
JudiKins™ Big Bee rubber stamp
Alphabet rubber stamps
“Just because” verse rubber stamp
Clearsnap® ColorBox™ Crafter’s Ink - Bark
Card stock
Paper trimmer, scissors, adhesive
Coordinating colors of card stock - brown, amber, cream

Instructions:

Apply 3 shades of tan/brown/dark yellow paint to 3” Hexagon Gel Press™ plate.  I used a palette knife to add just a touch of paint as the plate is small and I felt I had better control of the amount of paint using the knife.

Brayer colors to blend.

Place bubble wrap over wet paint and press gently.  Lift.

Place paper over Gel Press™ plate, transfer hexagon “honeycomb” pattern to paper by pressing gently.  Let dry

Cut out printed hexagon.  Mount onto cream card stock.

Ink Bee stamp with Bark/dark brown ink, stamp over hexagon print honeycomb.  Trim around image.  Ink edges with Bark ink.  Mount to amber card stock mat.

Mask out “because” and stamp “Just” with Bark ink on cream card stock.

Stamp “BEE” with Bark ink beneath “Just”.  Mask out “Just” and “be” - ink “cause” with Bark ink and stamp next to BEE.   Trim around verse.  Ink edges with Bark ink.  Mount to amber card stock mat.  Arrange and mount on brown card stock card.

So many options... so little time!

VOTING IS NOW LIVE!   There are so many fabulous projects to inspire your creativity!

And now, for my project!

This Parade Elephant stamp immediately bought to mind the rich, vibrant jewel tones of the textiles of India.  Paired with metallic fabrics from Fairfield™, and the richly toned Deco Foil™, it was easy to create this unique clutch purse to add a “Touch of India” to my summer wardrobe.

Materials:

Fairfield™ Cushioned Aluminor™- Gold
Fairfield™ Metallic Oly•Fun™ - Red, gold
Fairfield™ Oly•Fun™ - Sea Green
iCraft®  Deco Foil™ - Aqua
iCraft®  SuperTape™ - 1/4”
Fabric Fuse™ Adhesive
Plaid® Fabric Creations™ Block Printing Stamps - Medium - Parade Elephant
Plaid® FolkArt ® Multi-Surface Paints - Metallic Gold

Instructions:

Cut gold Aluminor™ to 9 x 12”.

Cut Sea Green Oly•Fun™ to 9 x 12”.  Apply Fabric Fuse™ around edges and mount to back of gold fabric.

Fold bottom edge up 4”.  Use Fabric Fuse™ to glue sides together.

Cut strips of red metallic Oly•Fun™ 9” x 1”  Fold in half.  Mount to top edge to cover raw edge.   Mount strips to sides.
Apply gold FolkArt® paint to Parade Elephant block printing stamp.  Stamp onto red metallic Oly•Fun™.  Let dry.  Fold top and bottom edges down and mount centered over top flap.

Add piece of double sided tape along bottom of front flap, over the red Oly•Fun™ strip.    Apply Deco Foil™ over tape.

Cut two triangles from Gold Metallic Oly•Fun™ and mount on either side of the elephant.   Apply double sided tape, then add foil.

Add colored rhinestone accents around tips of triangles and on foiled tape at bottom of flap.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Thanks to my son Thomas for finding this lucky 4 leaf clover yesterday!
Here's hoping it brings our entire family luck for the coming year!

Metallic Effects Cuff Bracelet - Oly*Fun™ Blog Hop!

Today the Designer Crafts Connection his having a Metallic Oly*Fun™ Blog Hop!  Find the links to all the projects shared by participating Designers on the Designer Craft Connection blog

The metallic shades of Oly*Fun™ just seemed perfect to me for making lightweight, flexible cuff bracelets!  I have several more ideas planned for the other metallic shades too!

Want to try it for yourself?   You could win ONE BOLT of Oly*Fun™ metallic in one of these colors! You must comment on my blog and on the DCC blog to be eligible; and visit the DCC blog to enter to win via the Rafflecopter widget.

Materials:

Gold Metallic Oly*Fun by Fairfield™
Beacon™ Fabri-Tac
Makin's® Ultimate Clay Machine™
Makin’s® Circle Cutter Set
Clearsnap® Designer Foils™ - Seaport, Lagoon, Goldmine, Silver Fog, Irish Eyes
JudiKins™ Diamond Glaze™
Velcro® Black Self-Adhesive Tape

Cutting mat, rotary cutter, ruler

Instructions:

Measure and cut gold Oly*Fun™ fabric to 3 1/4 x 10” (adjust length according to wrist size).

Fold short ends up 1/4” and glue down with Fabri-Tac adhesive.  Fold over lengthwise to center.  Glue.  Fold opposed side upward and glue down.   Note:  Use adhesive sparingly to avoid showing through the Oly*Fun™.

Cut 1” square of black self-adhesive Velcro® closure.  Mount one half  on inside outer edge of fabric bracelet.  Mount opposite half on outside of opposite end of bracelet.

When closed, it reminded me of hammered metal at this point.  To make it have less “sharp” angles, work with fingers to soften the folds.

Roll Black Makin’s Clay® to setting #1 on Ultimate Clay Machine™ (about 1/8” thick).   Randomly apply assorted shades of Designer Foils.   Roll again to setting #2 (foiling will crackle slightly).

Use smallest circle cutter from 3 piece set to cut small circles from foiled clay.

Let dry 24 hours.

Apply several layers of Diamond Glaze™ to each piece, allowing glaze to dry between each layer.

Mount foiled clay discs to bracelet.
